Description
As the title says, this property was built in the Meiji era.
It blends into the residential neighborhood, but up close you can feel its timeless character.
Inside the entrance is a traditional earthen-floor area (doma). A room that seems to have been used as a storeroom has mud (earthen) walls, creating a kind of space you rarely see in modern houses.
The upstairs rooms have the atmosphere of an old Japanese house straight out of a period drama. The roof is covered with corrugated tin on the outside, but if you look into the attic from inside the house, you can see the original thatched roof.
Despite being an old house, it takes only about 5 minutes by car to reach the center of Ureshino, and there are many houses nearby, so it is not an isolated house standing alone.
That said, to be honest, the floors creak almost everywhere and drafts come in. The walls are also slightly tilted.
Because of this, significant renovation costs are likely to be needed to make use of the house. Depending on the case, you may also need to consider rebuilding.
It is a property with a fairly high hurdle, but if you are interested in kominka (traditional old houses), why not take a look?
* Because it may be difficult to use the building as it is, the floor plan and similar details are not published.
Points of concern about this house:
- The ceilings and floors of the house are badly damaged.
- The house's facilities are themselves old, so they are quite likely to be unusable as they are.
- Major renovation, with rebuilding also taken into consideration, is thought to be necessary.
