Habu is a fishing village facing the Suo-nada Sea, located exactly halfway between Shimonoseki and Ube. Access is excellent: Habu IC on the Sanyo Expressway is a few minutes by car, and JR Sanyo Main Line Habu Station is also available. Around May each year the "Habu Shiohigari (clam-digging) Tournament" is held, where you can dig seasonal clams and see horseshoe crabs on display, an event unique to this area. In summer, about 1 million sunflowers spread across the reclaimed land reach their peak, and there are plenty of farming experiences such as strawberry and blueberry picking. Fishing, clam digging and flower fields: a lifestyle where the pleasures change with each season awaits.

Habu has good access to some of Yamaguchi Prefecture's most scenic spots, making it an ideal touring base. Tsunoshima Ohashi Bridge, which often appears in TV commercials and film locations, is a top-class scenic spot in Japan that has become a hot topic on social media, with resort-like white sand beaches and cobalt-blue sea. At 1,780 m, it is one of the longest toll-free public-road bridges in Japan. Going a little further past Shimonoseki, the Kanmon Straits are also within day-trip range. Akiyoshido Cave, located 100 m underground in Akiyoshidai Quasi-National Park, is one of Japan's largest limestone caves and a designated Special Natural Monument; it stays a comfortable 17°C year-round. Being able to easily drive to Tsunoshima Ohashi, Akiyoshidai and the Kanmon Straits, Yamaguchi's signature scenic spots, is part of Habu's appeal.
