The house is undeniably old, but we have improved it little by little while living here. The plumbing areas such as the toilet and kitchen have been renovated over the years, and this is a home that has been lived in carefully and with great care. I love the air that flows through this area and the scent of the trees, and I have never been able to let it go.
This is a small hot spring town in Iwate surrounded by mountains, a river and forest, full of seasonal charm: barbecues and camping by the river in summer, a snow festival in winter, a harvest festival in autumn, and hot spring hopping. When you open the window, you can hear the cries of hawks echoing in the sky, and in spring bush warblers sing. At night there are skies full of stars, and on summer mornings and at dusk you can hear the nostalgic call of evening cicadas. With luck you may see squirrels, white rabbits, and sometimes deer. Within walking distance there are several hot spring sources, with day-use hot springs and long-established inns scattered around. Quite a few people come from far away to be healed by this nature and the hot springs.
There are many rooms, enough space not only for a large family but also for use as a guesthouse (minpaku) or an atelier. The bathroom (boiler), the 1st-floor toilet, the 1st-floor kitchen, and some of the rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors have been renovated. There is also a toilet and kitchen on the 2nd floor, but they were not in use, so they have not been renovated. The kitchen and bath use water heated with kerosene from an external tank, so utility costs are kept low. The kitchen stove has three burners and a grill; this requires a propane gas contract.
The house is currently occupied, but we can move out immediately once it is sold, so it can generally be handed over for immediate occupancy. It will be sold as-is. Almost all the furniture and appliances needed for daily life are included, so you can start living here right away with nothing but your suitcase. Furniture includes a sofa, beds, TV board, chest, wooden hanger closet, shelves, tables and a desk. Appliances include air conditioners (2), TVs (2), a kotatsu, a refrigerator, FF-type kerosene heaters (2), a kerosene fan heater, a kerosene stove, a drum-type washer-dryer, a single-tub top-loading washing machine, and a 5-door refrigerator.
Nearby there are Super Osen, Yumoto Post Office, Hotto Yuda Station, Hotto Yuda (hot spring), Ushi no Yu, Suna Yukko, Sawauchi Baden, and many other baths with free-flowing source water. Sawauchi Baden has a rare steam sauna that uses steam directly from the hot spring source. The area, with the nearby Waga River, foot baths and hot spring eggs, is full of charm in every season.
We spent peaceful time living with nature in this house. We are now letting it go for other reasons... we have already decided where we are moving, and it is difficult to take all of our furniture and daily necessities with us. If there is anything you could make use of, we would be happy for you to use it as it is, and we would like to decide that together through discussion according to your wishes. We hope that someone who likes this place and this house will weave a new story here.
