Our family home was lost to a fire about 20 years ago. My father lived in an old house next door, which had been renovated to a minimally livable standard as temporary housing. It has been vacant since my father was hospitalized with an illness 17 years ago. I inherited the property and had considered renovating the vacant house further and rebuilding the main house, but I have decided to sell it to cover my children's university costs and business funds. Because it was an old house to begin with, it was considerably damaged in the 2011 earthquake, with a broken beam at the entrance and loosened window frames. I think renovation of everything except the roof tiles will be necessary. Items from when my father lived there and some of my own belongings remain inside the vacant house, but we will dispose of them.
