Description
Two aging buildings: a former minshuku (guesthouse) and a house. Located in the center of a tourist area, with views of the Undersea Observatory Tower and Sakurahama beach from the 2nd floor. Under the stars, moonlight dances across the sea surface, and together with the sound of the waves this is a charm unique to this place. The coastline of strange rock formations leading to Ashizuri Kaikan and the aquarium is ideal as a walking course. The small field has obtained a non-farmland certificate, so people who are not farmers can also purchase it. There are no conditions of sale. The property has been vacant since 2018.
History:
The minshuku business started in 1975 (Showa 50). There had apparently been the option of running a knitting class instead, but the mother decided on the minshuku after hearing the opinions of and receiving cooperation from those around her. The business did well thanks to the mother's personality and the cooperation of the neighbors. In her 40s-50s, her psychogenic diabetes worsened and she needed dialysis, and the business closed in October 1994 (Heisei 6). The neighboring house was built in October 1982 (Showa 57) after the father took early retirement from the Forest Office. Both parents passed away at age 75. The family business was taken over by custom, but because of work the owner could not continue it. As the son also has no intention of taking it over, the property is being put up for sale.
Nearby spots:
Busy attractions include "SATOUMI" (aquarium), which reopened after renovation in July 2020 and draws about 100,000 visitors per month, and a campground. The glass-bottom boat has about 10,000-20,000 visitors per year. The Sea Gallery (shell exhibition hall) has about 20,000 visitors per month. Ashizuri Kaikan is closed due to aging. Tatsukushi Coast for strolling among the strange rock formations. Nearby, the John Manjiro Museum is gaining excitement from the 2028 NHK taiga drama that has been decided. Also the Dragonfly Museum in Shimanto City, Temple No. 38 Kongofukuji, Ogi beach (a surfing spot), the Daruma sunset at Sukumo Bay, and many hidden fishing spots.
Nearby places to eat: "Ashizuri" and "Hozaki", where you can enjoy fresh seafood; "Ichihachi", featured in a national broadcast (Nippon TV's "Human Gourmentary Omoumaten") for its superb seafood bowls generously piled up by the owner, a former fisherman; "Top" coffee shop; and the bakery "Pomier", among others.
Shopping, hospitals, schools:
Within 1.5 km there are a supermarket, a convenience store and an elementary school. Within 12 km there are a large supermarket, a hospital and a junior high school.
Repairs needed:
Back hillside: it was reinforced in 2006, but has corroded and collapsed with age. On January 29, 2020 (Reiwa 2) it was designated a sediment disaster warning zone.
Cracks: seen in several places in the foundation, and at the attachment point of the emergency staircase.
Roof leaks: 2 locations, near the entrance of the minshuku and in the kitchen of the upper house.
Sagging floors: 2 locations, the room to the left of the minshuku entrance and the east-side room on the 2nd floor of the upper house.
Distorted beams on the 2nd floor of the house on the hillside.
Bonus property:
